Part 2: THE LITTLE GIRL THREW HER SHOES AT THE BRIDE

The child yanked off one tiny shoe and threw it at Vanessa.

“You stole him!”

The shoe struck the bride’s bouquet, sending white roses crashing onto the marble floor.

Gasps echoed across the ballroom.

“Sophie, stop!” her mother begged, grabbing her arm. “Please… we should go.”

But security was already moving.

Two guards stormed forward, seizing the frightened mother while Sophie cried hysterically.

“Let me go!” the woman shouted. “He knows who we are!”

The guests watched like it was dinner theater. Some laughed. Others filmed eagerly as the struggling mother and child were dragged across the polished marble floor.

Sophie’s teddy bear slipped from her arms.

“No!” she screamed. “Mr. Buttons!”

Ethan suddenly stepped forward. “Wait.”

The room froze again.

His jaw tightened as he stared at the child.

Vanessa looked between them, confusion turning slowly into horror.

“What is happening?” she whispered.

Ethan rubbed a trembling hand over his face. “I can explain.”

But before he could continue, Sophie’s mother spoke.

“For five years,” she said shakily, “you sent child support under a fake name. Every month. You promised Sophie you’d tell the truth someday.”

Vanessa staggered backward.

The ballroom erupted.

“What?” someone shouted.

“No way…”

“Oh my God, he has a child?”

Cameras zoomed in on Ethan’s shattered expression.

“I was trying to protect everyone,” he muttered weakly.

“Protect who?” Sophie’s mother snapped. “Your reputation?”

Sophie broke free from security and ran back toward the altar, tears pouring down her cheeks.

“You lied to me!” she cried. “You said you loved me!”

Even the musicians had stopped playing now.

Vanessa stared at Ethan like she didn’t recognize the man standing beside her.

Then Sophie pointed toward the teddy bear lying near the bride’s feet.

“My mommy said if Daddy lies again, you should open Mr. Buttons.”

A chill swept through the ballroom.

Vanessa slowly bent down and picked up the old stuffed bear.

“What’s inside it?” she whispered.

Sophie’s mother covered her mouth, suddenly panicked.

“Don’t—”

But Vanessa had already unzipped the small hidden pocket sewn into the bear’s back.

The entire room held its breath as she pulled out a folded envelope.

Ethan lunged forward. “Vanessa, wait!”

Her hands trembled while opening it.

Then her face drained of all color.

Because inside the teddy bear… was a DNA test proving everything Sophie had said was true.

And just as Vanessa looked up at Ethan in horror, the ballroom doors suddenly opened again
